Heating, cooling and air quality for the West Valley

Residential and light commercial. Everything below is work we do ourselves.

Equipment in the West Valley works harder than the same equipment almost anywhere else in the country. Run hours are enormous, the dust load is constant, and monsoon season finds every shortcut anyone took during installation. The services below are written for those conditions specifically, because a system here does not fail the way a system in a temperate climate fails.

Not sure which one you need? Describe the symptom when you call and we will work it out from there. If you are a business rather than a homeowner, the commercial page covers how we work on your side of things.

AC Repair

When cooling fails in a Phoenix July it stops being an inconvenience within a couple of hours. We diagnose the actual fault rather than replacing parts until something works — capacitors and contactors, condenser fan motors, refrigerant leaks, blower issues, failed control boards, and the frozen evaporator coils that follow a restricted filter or a low charge. You get told what failed, why it failed, and whether the rest of the system is likely to follow it. If the honest answer is that the repair is not worth the money on a system this old, you will hear that too, with the numbers behind it.

What is included

  • Full diagnostic with the fault explained in plain language
  • Refrigerant leak detection rather than a top-up and a wave goodbye
  • Electrical component testing — capacitors, contactors, motors
  • A written price before any repair work starts

AC Installation & Replacement

A replacement in this climate is a sizing exercise first and a sales conversation second. We run the load calculation — square footage, insulation, glazing and orientation, ceiling height, duct condition — instead of matching whatever unit happens to be sitting on the pad. Oversizing is the most common mistake made in Phoenix homes: too much capacity cools the air quickly, shuts off, and never runs long enough to move air evenly or pull moisture out, so the house feels clammy and the equipment short-cycles itself into an early grave. We install it, commission it properly, and register the warranty.

What is included

  • Load calculation before any equipment is specified
  • Written proposal with the options laid out side by side
  • Correct commissioning — charge, airflow and static pressure verified
  • Manufacturer warranty registered at installation

Heating Repair & Furnace Service

Desert nights get genuinely cold, and heating equipment here has an odd life: it sits unused for eight or nine months, collects dust, and is then asked to work perfectly on the first cold evening in November. That is exactly when ignitors, flame sensors, pressure switches and inducer motors announce themselves. We service gas furnaces, heat pumps and dual-fuel systems, and we check combustion and heat exchanger condition as a matter of course — because a cracked heat exchanger is a safety issue, not a comfort one.

What is included

  • Ignition, flame sensor and pressure switch diagnosis
  • Heat exchanger inspection on every gas furnace call
  • Heat pump and dual-fuel changeover testing
  • Safety checks documented in writing

Heating Installation

Most West Valley homes do not need much heating capacity, which makes the equipment choice more interesting than it sounds. A heat pump often makes more sense here than a gas furnace, because the same box handles cooling for most of the year and heating for the short stretch that needs it. Dual-fuel systems are worth considering where gas is already run. We will lay out what each option actually costs to install and to run in this climate, and let you choose on the numbers rather than on a preference we brought with us.

What is included

  • Heat pump, gas furnace and dual-fuel options compared honestly
  • Running costs estimated for Phoenix conditions, not a national average
  • Venting, gas and electrical brought up to code as part of the job
  • Old equipment removed and disposed of

Heat Pumps & Ductless Mini-Splits

Ductless mini-splits solve the problems ductwork cannot reach. A converted garage, a casita, an addition that was never tied into the main system, a west-facing room that runs ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house every afternoon — all of these are cheaper and better solved with a dedicated head than by trying to force more air out of a system that was never sized for them. Mini-splits are also quiet and efficient, and because each zone has its own control you stop paying to condition rooms nobody is in.

What is included

  • Single and multi-zone systems
  • Casitas, garages, additions and sunrooms
  • Zoned control so you only cool the rooms in use
  • Heat pump operation — one system for both seasons

Preventive Maintenance & Tune-Ups

This is the service that keeps August from becoming a crisis. Coils clog with dust faster here than almost anywhere, and a dirty condenser makes the compressor work harder for less cooling every single day until something gives. A proper tune-up means cleaning the coils, checking refrigerant charge against actual conditions, testing electrical components before they fail, measuring temperature split and static pressure, and clearing the condensate drain before it backs up into a ceiling. Most manufacturer warranties also require documented annual service to remain valid.

What is included

  • Coil cleaning — the single highest-value item in this climate
  • Refrigerant charge verified against measured conditions
  • Electrical components tested before they fail in traffic
  • Written condition report on every visit

Indoor Air Quality

Valley dust gets into everything, and the months when the air is worst outside are exactly the months the house is sealed up and recirculating. Filtration is the first lever and the cheapest: the right filter in the right place, changed on a schedule that matches the dust load here rather than the one printed on the box. Beyond that there is ventilation, humidity control during monsoon season, duct sealing so you stop pulling attic air into the system, and UV or media air cleaners where they genuinely help. We will tell you which of those is worth your money and which is not.

What is included

  • Filtration matched to Phoenix dust loads and to your system
  • Duct sealing so you stop breathing attic air
  • Ventilation and humidity control for monsoon season
  • Straight advice on which add-ons actually earn their keep

Ductwork, Airflow & Insulation

A leaky duct run in a Phoenix attic is air conditioning poured directly into a space that can reach a hundred and fifty degrees. It is the most expensive problem in the house and the least visible. We test for it, seal it, and repair or replace failed flex runs, crushed sections, and the disconnected boots that explain why one bedroom never cools. Airflow is the other half: undersized returns and high static pressure make a correctly sized system behave like an undersized one, and no amount of new equipment fixes it.

What is included

  • Leak testing and sealing on attic duct runs
  • Failed, crushed or disconnected flex replaced
  • Static pressure and return air sizing checked
  • Insulation gaps that undo the rest of the work identified

Light Commercial HVAC

Packaged rooftop units, split systems, make-up air and exhaust for light commercial buildings — retail, offices, restaurants, multi-tenant and light industrial. The priority on a commercial site is different from a house: what matters is uptime, a documented maintenance record, and knowing which units are approaching replacement before one of them decides for you on a Friday afternoon. Service agreements cover quarterly preventive maintenance, filters and belts, documented reports for your building file, and a guaranteed response window.

What is included

  • Rooftop units, splits, make-up air and exhaust
  • Quarterly preventive maintenance with documented reports
  • Planned replacement budgeting instead of emergency spending
  • Work scheduled around your operating hours

Who we work for

Two very different jobs, and we do not pretend otherwise. Homeowners get plain language, free estimates on new systems, and someone who explains the diagnosis before touching anything. Businesses get uptime, documented maintenance and scheduling that works around opening hours.
